Tech Tip: Installing Custom Fonts on Your Computer

A key part of keeping your brand visuals consistent is using the same set of fonts in all of your marketing material.

If you’ve worked with me on your Personal Branding, I call out a set of fonts for you to make it easier to be consistently on brand. These fonts generally aren’t available your computer by default, so to use them you’ve got to install them.

For those of you that haven’t worked with me but want to use custom fonts to build your brand, you’re likely going to purchase premium fonts via MyFonts.com or download an open license font from Google Fonts, you can follow along with these steps too.

Installing Fonts on a Mac

  1. Download the Font ZIP folders to your computer
  2. Extract the ZIP file by double clicking it
  3. Select the font files (.otf, .ttf) and open with Font Book — you can hit Control and click on the file or use the right click on the magic mouse/trackpad then select “Open with > Font Book”
  4. Install the Fonts and open up the program you want to use them in – you should now see the font in your list of font choices

Installing Fonts on a PC (Windows)

  1. Download the Font ZIP folders to your computer
  2. Extract the ZIP file by double clicking it
  3. Select the font files (.otf, .ttf) and right click to open
  4. Install the Fonts and open up the program you want to use them in – you should now see the font in your list of font choices
